Remote Support is a program that enables computer (A) to be controlled from computer (B) as if the operator at computer (B) was sitting in front of computer (A), or even simpler, this program lets me control your computer without even being there.
The program is very small, only takes a few seconds to download, when you “run” it nothing is installed on your computer so you don’t have to worry about your other programs being upset. In Techie speak we say it runs in volatile memory only (RAM) and it is not permanent.
The benefits with using the Remote Support tool are:
- we can get to work on your problem almost immediately
- there is no travelling involved so it is cheaper
- we can talk to you on the phone at the same time we are working on your computer
- everything we do on your computer is visible to you at the other end
- and we are saving the planet
First, you need to ring our office on 0800 878 878 and make sure there is a technician available to look at your problem. The other thing that needs to be in order before we start is your internet connection, make sure you can get onto the web ok, this program uses the internet to connect to us, so if thats not working then we may have to pay you an actual visit.
Once everything is in order, click on the Remote Support link (top right corner of this web page), you will be prompted to either run or save the program, we recommend you run it (step 1). As soon as you click run another window will popup, this time indicating the “publisher could not be verified”, again just click run (step 2).
The next window to open is the actual application. On the left side of this application is a list of Technicians, simply double click on the name of the Technician who is going to help you (step 3). This starts the remote support connection, thats it you're done, just sit back and watch.
