Contour Map
Start with a plain white page.
Select Filter » Noise » Add Noise... from
the menu. Set the values similar to the ones in the illustration:



Choose Filter » Blur » Gaussian Blur... from the menu.
Blur with a radius of approximately 15.0 pixels.

Improve the colour levels by pressing Ctrl+Shift+L (Auto-Levels).

Sharpen up the differences between each colour level
by choosing Images » Adjust » Posterize from
the menu and using about 10 levels. Press Ctrl+Shift+L again here to
brighten up the levels.

Use the Hue/Saturation dialog (Ctrl+U) to give
your contour map an nice grassy colour. Use the values from
the illustration below. Make sure 'Colorize' is checked.



To give the map a bit of a raised, 3D sort of feel,
use Filter » Stylize » Emboss... and set the values to be
similar to the illustration:

Use Filter » Fade Emboss...

To produced the finished contour map:
